Looking for a tatting thread…

  • Iris

Different thread thickness throughout one ball leads to inaccurate work.

  • Iris Gamma

The thread is rather thin, may tear, but I enjoy it while tatting snowflakes and flat bookmarks.

  • Iris Vita cotton

Thread is too soft. May be torn while tightening tatted elements.

  • Pehorka Agurnaja

The thread is rather soft, but the knots are neat and tatting using this thread is a pleasure.

  • Madame Tricote Almina 8/4

Too soft for tatting.

  • YarnArt Violet

For me this thread is ideal for tatting.

  • YarnArt Violet 10

According to my feeling this thread does not differ from the previous one. Maybe a little bit softer.

  • YarnArt Lily

The thread suits for tatting, it is a little bit thicker, than YarnArt Violet.

  • YarnArt Tulip

Microfibra – a synthetic shiny yarn. Different colours of this thread differ in characteristics – some are soft and comfortable in tatting, others (for example, black, white, pink) are more boardy and curl easily.

  • YarnArt Tulip + Madeira №40 (embroidery thread)

For tatting in ANKARS technique I use Yarn ArtTulip + lurex Madeira. Maybe it is not a perfect combination for ankars thread, because microfibra stretches more, than lurex and that is why slacks, but I am satisfied with this combination.

  • Mosnitki 350 L

Thick capron thread. What I like most of all in it is that all rings with the same number of knots come out exactly of the same size – it is nearly impossible to tighten the ring too much or too low.

  • Madame Tricote Perle 8

Thin, delicate thread. While holding in hands it gives a feeling of woolen yarn. It may be used in tatting, but it is not preferable.

  • YarnArt Canarias

I enjoyed this thread, picots come out very nice, though I have not got used to tat with such thin thread.

  • YarnArt Violet Lurex

Cotton thread enlaced with lurex looks surely not like ANKARS thread, where lurex accentuates natural glance of synthetic thread. It is rather hard to tat for a long time – due to contact with lurex the fingers become painful. If tatted for dress decoration such lace should be sewed down to the parts where it will not touch skin, because the lace would mar it.

  • Linate troy

While tatting with this thread picots badly keep their shape. It is not suitable for the element beaded “loop made chain” – as you can see in the photo the thread has gone spoiled.
